“Sacred Gesture: Where Consciousness & Sacred Theatre Meet”

After many years of training at the Inner Quest, we offer the more advanced student an opportunity to work with the Sacred Gestures, one of the theurgic practices that I have the honour of teaching. The Gestures are a channel of profound spiritual discovery for those mediums who have truly done the groundwork to prepare their instruments, both inner and outer, and to ready themselves for the infinite variety of uses to which mediumistic wielding may be put. 

Sacred Gesture is a series of movements within the study of Sacred Theatre at the Inner Quest. In Sophia’s Terpsichore, one is invited to activate one’s heart connection with the Divine through the Gestures, moving toward an experience of that point of grace that comes about when there is integration of body, mind, and breath-spirit. The Gestures activate the mediumistic faculty on an arcane level to awaken the essence of the archetypes within and evoke an elevated state of consciousness in the doer.

What does a session look like? As with any theurgic session, we begin with Sitting in the Presence to create the best environment in which to connect with the Divine. Breathwork is essential to Sacred Gesture; engaging the physical breath engages the spiritual breath which is the source of your inspiration. The practice incorporates an awareness of the Five Elements, of Light & Dark, and Sacred Geometry whose purpose is to align the space within and the space without. After the techniques of these sacred movements are well established, we begin to allow the body etheric freedom within the technique to manifest its own Intelligence without having to interfere with the head or the will. 

These are but some of the elements involved in Sacred Gesture. The practice is intended to clear a pathway – a pathway that already exists, albeit sometimes hidden – between the divine human being and the Divine Being, melding Divine Consciousness and human consciousness in a mutuality of flow.

Those of you who have been with us before will understand the ethical ramifications of the work we do. These practices are sacred and are passed on from teacher to student after many years of practice, as has been done for thousands of years. Ours is a modern iteration of ancient theurgic practice and, though not for everyone, is a most Sacred pathway for others, and certainly for Other.
